Collect, disseminate and manage information, market and financial data relating to the manufacturing technology industry in support of the economic, market, and business planning functions of the Strategic Analytics department.

Primary Job Functions:

Provide domestic and international market intelligence to promote the membership's global advancement.

Prepare papers, reports and presentations for use by members and staff in relation to the responsibilities of the position.

Research, analyze and respond to member requests for information about the machine tool and related industries, including end-user industries, as well as information about general economic conditions that affect our members' businesses.

Investigate, research, and estimate data needed to fulfill on-demand market research requests.

Manage all aspects of periodic financial reporting programs including data collection, data entry, data verification, data analysis, confidentiality issues, report generation and report distribution.

Assist the Business Intelligence Manager in maintaining and improving the database, program performance, software structure and value programs analysis provided in reports.

Market benchmarking programs to prospective users and lead efforts to recruit new participants and retain existing ones.

Assist with the marketing and promotion of departmental programs.

Keep abreast of new data sources or changes in existing data sources that may potentially be used by the department.

Write articles for submission to monthly reports and publications.

Develop, maintain and improve documentation of departmental work processes to capture best known practices.

Assist in the planning and coordination of projects related to committees. Represent the department at meetings of these groups as assigned.

Assist in the planning and coordination of projects related to member meetings and conferences for which the department is responsible.

Monitor, measure and analyze the performance of departmental products and services to develop and implement improvement strategies.

Develop new and maintain existing documentation of departmental work processes.

Administer activities relative to job function in the implementation of strategic plan.

Perform other duties, as assigned.


Provide data and represent the department at association committee meetings in connection with responsibilities of the position.

Work with outside vendors and subcontractors on departmental projects (i. e., authors of market studies and reports, web site and software enhancements, etc.)

Establish and maintain relationships with international analysts and federal officials who work with the manufacturing technology industries.

Collect and disseminate industry market intelligence and data to personnel from member companies.

Respond to questions and inquiries from members and other organizations and companies relative to the responsibilities of the position.

Consult, communicate, and provide feedback on benchmarking surveys to relevant committees, product groups, and their staff liaison.

Consult, communicate, and provide feedback to other organizations on benchmarking surveys conducted on their behalf.

Consult and confer with association staff on projects and work processes for which the position is responsible.

Communicate and share progress on work processes and projects with supervisor and other members of departmental staff.

Job Responsibility and Job Complexity:

Has no supervisory responsibility; however considerable influence on the actions of members or others outside the Association;

Has considerable impact on the internal productivity and on the reputation of the association;

Requires frequent judgment to interpret and carry out assigned work activities. As a result, it requires considerable problem solving to carry out work assignments;

Has some technical latitude to accomplish work assignments of self and/or others; work is generally reviewed in terms of work results.

Minimum Education/Experience:

Position requires:

Master's degree in business, finance, accounting, statistics or economics with 5 years of experience or 6 - 10 years of relevant work experience;

Knowledge of organizational management, with an understanding of these areas of specialization: economics, statistics, survey techniques, and data analytics;

Marketing experience or a strong understanding of marketing concepts is a plus;

Advanced experience with an understanding of computers, database software, analytics software and business software applications;

Project management ability, leadership ability good organizational, facilitation and motivation skills, strong interpersonal, oral & written communication, and analytical skills;

Presentation and negotiation skills;

The ability to exercise leadership within a work team.
