Your Role and Responsibilities

IBM has established several retirement funds in Europe to meet its obligations with regard to post retirement pension benefits.The Custody & Compliance Consultant will provide support to these retirement funds and their Investment Committees/ Boards. This support consists mainly of overseeing the global custody relationship and compliance monitoring. In addition, the Custody & Compliance Consultant will support programs like class actions, proxy voting, engagement, and clearing


  • Understanding of country retirement funds (structure, environment)
  • Keep abreast of financial markets in general and specifically regulatory developments
  • Manage the relationship with the global custodians
  • Manage the (internal) compliance processes and programs such as proxy voting, class actions, engagement, clearing, collateral management and securities lending
  • Enhance the compliance and risk management processes
  • Present projects/recommendations to the different stakeholders/committees
  • Share knowledge and expertise
  • Maintain and monitor relationships with pension fund staff and committee/board members, and external providers such as custodians, consultants, etc.
  • Manage projects (e.g. agree, maintain and review project plans and timelines)

Required Technical and Professional Expertise
  • Experience with global custody and risk management
  • Appropriate knowledge of relevant regulation and practices
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Relevant professional degree (finance, economics, actuary, law, etc)
  • Relevant experience in a financial or similar institution
  • Ability to work under pressure and with outside organizations
  • Excellent written and verbal communication/presentation skills
  • Available and willing to travel abroad as needed (approximately 15%)
  • Microsoft Office skills (mainly Excel, Word and Powerpoint)

  • Team player
  • Ability to work under pressure and with outside organizations
  • Other languages are an advantage
  • Pro-active, well organized and independent
  • Eager to learn/develop
