Contract position: Engineering & Construction client is looking for a Project Cost Engineer/Analyst with 2-5 years of cost analysis & cost engineering experience. The ideal candidate has experience supporting transmission line or substation EPC projects, but any heavy industrial background will do. This is a long term contract opportunity in Akron, OH. Our client prefers candidates that are local to Akron, but may consider offering a per diem for candidates that are not local.

Responsibilities for the Cost Engineer

  • Your main responsibility will be to develop, implement, and maintain cost reports, cash flows, and forecasts for multiple T&D and Substation related EPC projects
  • Analyze project controls reports, present findings and provide recommendations to the project team
  • Coordinate implementation and automation of reports into Oracle Primavera Portfolio Management or Oracle Unifier software with developers
  • Review, track & maintain budgets and forecasts for multiple projects
  • Set up Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) for tracking detailed breakdown of purchase orders or subcontracts
  • Ensure budget tracking against Purchase Orders or Subcontracts
  • Review monthly cost downloads from financial systems & update monthly status of quantity & baseline budgets, cash flows, manpower plans, histograms, and progress
  • This position also requires coordinating with the Scheduler(s) on the team to make sure that the financial forecast is in line with the project schedule

    Requirements for the Cost Engineer

    • 2-5 years of cost analysis & cost engineering experience on heavy industrial construction projects (ideally Transmission Line or Substations EPC projects)
    • Experience with Earned Value Analysis, Cost Forecasting and Cost Analysis in support of EPC projects
    • BS degree in Engineering, Business, Construction Management or related field is a preferred
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Oracle applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
    • Experience with Microsoft Access, Microsoft Excel Power Query and SQL databases preferred
    • Any experience with SAP as well as a high comfort level with monthly accruals would be a big plus
    • Any exposre to Primavera scheduling software would be a PLUS
