Key Activities of Engagement:


Architecture and System Technology. These activities will focus on reviewing and recommending a highly available and secure network architecture focused on the following:


Integration with existing WLAN architecture, centralized intelligent devices and access points


Designation of how data is forwarded (either centralized at the controller, or distributed at the AP) for different applications and types of traffic.


Traffic restrictions


Traffic permissions and prioritization by user, group of users, SSID, application, source/destination IP, protocol and CoS


Ensuring the system is future-proof by allowing implementation of upcoming standards (eg 802.11n) without having to upgrade switching infrastructure.


WLAN Network Segmentation


Emphasis on:


Throughput


User and system controls


Management capabilities


Total traffic performance


Optimal antenna support


Potential use of mesh technologies


High Availability technical design to include fault domains. These activities will focus on recommending a High Availability (HA) Technical Design for WLAN network elements that will encompass the following:


Coverage, capacity needs and also future expectations for High Availability (HA).


Incorporate bandwidth requirements in the design.


Consider various radio technologies, differences in office layout or other potential RF obstructions.


Determine the various APs' RF channel assignments, power levels and association rates.


Design seamless RF coverage in campus buildings and facilities for High Availability (HA).


Configuration and Monitoring. These activities will focus on recommending changes required to configure, deploy and maintain the CUSTOMER wireless system, especially as needs evolve and the environment of the WLAN changes. The AT&T team will review the existing operational environment and recommend appropriate changes that can be implemented in order for the WLAN to be properly configured and managed. Activities will include the following:


Review WLAN management tools and processes.


Review and recommend configuration changes needed on AP's, aggregation or edge switches and routers.


Review and recommend management configuration for optimal channel and transmit power when they become operational.


Review and recommend system support for multiple VLANs over the air.


Review and recommend support for WLAN 802.1X dynamic VLAN policies.


Review and recommend changes in order to ensure that every VLAN is accessible on every subnet supporting an AP for the WLAN.


Review and recommend processes to ensure that the maximum number of VLANs, APs and users that can be supported in a single WLAN controller or a system of controllers.


Management, Systems Capacity and Performance. These activities will review existing technical architecture and make recommendations that provides sufficient capacity for business-level application performance focused on the following:


System support for user QoS capabilities and prioritization via per-user queuing in the Aps.


Ability to manage the air as a network resource.


Optimization of WLAN operations


Configuration and monitoring reports that can be generated.


Security and FFIEC compliance. These activities will focus on reviewing and vetting the security of CUSTOMER wireless network elements based on NIST Frameworks and FFIEC standards. If security gaps are found the AT&T team will recommend remediation activities to close security gaps and reduce CUSTOMER's risk posture. The security activities will focus on the following:


Recommend methods of authentication including the following:


Web-based AAA.


EAP protocols supported.


Recommend methods for how users associated with third-party Aps can be authenticated.


Recommend AAA services for wireless clients.


Recommend encryption methods that the system will support.


Recommend how the system will store user and network data.


Recommend processes designed to ensure the security of any data locally stored on the AP's and how direct access to the APs will be supported.


Review and recommend support per-user in-bound and out-bound extended access control lists (ACLs).


Review and recommend processes that ensure system compliance for endpoint assurance requirements to protect the corporate network from a compromised laptop or other mobile device.


Review and recommend processes that will ensure how the system will support distributed cryptography and centralized encryption of wireless data.


Design appropriate security compliance for the following:


Sensitive data stored locally on the AP's


WLAN support for wireless intrusion detection/prevention (WIDS/WIPS)


Remediation against rogue access points and denial of service attacks.


Integrated configuration and management.


Intrusion alarms which automatically roll up in your WLAN management console or a SIEM.


Single consolidated view of intrusion alarms and WLAN status.


Rogue detection automatically.


Countermeasures that are employed against rogues that are found.


System alerts when rogues are detected.


Management logs and traps for rogue activity.


Roaming security between APs and/or between WLAN controllers when the APs or controllers reside on different subnets.


Secure IP management.


User subnet attributes (VLAN, ACLs, route policies)


System support any mechanisms to control where users can physically roam throughout the WLAN infrastructure.


Facilitate the design, documentation, installation, maintenance and upgrading of a new wireless (WLAN) network for AT&T's Customer.


Other Desc:


They will be working with 2 Senior Wireless Architects from AT&T's Consulting


organization to design/architect a best in class Wireless network for their end customer, USAA.


Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science or related discipline or knowledge acquired through equivalent experience and a minimum of ten (10) year's experience in network engineering.


Must have a minimun of eight (8) year's experience in the field of wireless engineering.


Must have a minimun of three (3) year's experience as a wireless network architect.


Expert level experience with Cisco wireless APs, controllers, and other Cisco related wireless technology.
