Engineering client involved in heavy industrial plant engineering, procurement & construction projects is looking for Project Buyer/Procurement Specialist to join their team. You need 5-10 years of purchasing & procurement experience supporting heavy industrial engineering & construction projects. Our client is located about 20 miles north of Philadelphia and prefers candidates that are within commuting distance, but will provide relocation for the right candidate. *** salary commensurate with experience ***

Responsibilities for the Buyer

  • Responsible for the procurement of equipment & materials for assigned engineering projects
  • Identify & qualify potential new suppliers and process the documentation to include in the company approved supplier list
  • Support business groups with supplier quotes at the project proposal phase
  • Prepare and issue Request for Quote (RFQ) for procurement of project equipment and materials, review data sheets, drawings, specification and other related documents and assemble the RFQ package
  • Prepare bidder list, conduct competitive bidding, prepare bid tabulation and process approval of bid tabulation before issue of purchase orders, contracts or letter of intents
  • Select supplier and complete procurement contracts to meet or exceed project expectations
  • Expedite and ensure on time delivery of material, components, and documents to meet the project delivery scheduleRequirements for the Buyer

    • 5-10+ years of experience as a Project Buyer or Procurement Specialist supporting heavy industrial or manufacturing engineering & construction projects
    • The ideal candidate has specific experience purchasing equipmeng for chemical, petrochemical, refinery, power generation or gas-production engineering & construction projects
    • Experience working for an Engineering firm supporting heavy industrial plant EPC projects in the oil & gas or power generation sector would be preferred
    • A BS/BA degree, preferable in Business, Engineering, Supply Chain, or Construction Management is needed
    • You should have some negotiation skills and knowledge of commercial terms and conditions
    • Experience with MS Excel and proficient in MS Word
    • Any experience with SAP would be considered a PLUS<Benefits for the Buyer
