Summary: Develop and deploy industry leading Business Intelligence (BI) solutions. With an understanding of business processes, the BI Lead will holistically gather and explore data, transform it, and present the story it tells to the client. As well, the resource will champion relationships with business partners and technical experts to lead collaboration on strategic projects and ad hoc analytics activities.

Essential Functions:

  • Champion standardization, integration, and ubiquity of data management and BI tools and processes using the Microsoft data technology stack
  • Collaborate with business partners, project managers, and data developers to evaluate required data and reporting functionality, communicate tradeoffs and alternative solutions, and plan out, prioritize, and lead related development efforts.
  • Lead cross-functional project teams to incorporate new data sources into the corporate data warehouse, expose related attributes and metrics in various Microsoft technology, and utilize BI tools to develop reports, visualizations, dashboards, and other solutions that allow data to be analyzed and acted on.
  • Adopt existing and establish new technical design patterns, workflows & tools to build sustainable analytics solutions that provide decision support for stakeholders.
  • Mentor BI staff in the technical areas used by the analytics team, both formally in structured group settings and informally in one-on-one and small group sessions.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Required Skills -

    • Experience working with large organizations to implement large scale & complex data warehousing projects
    • Experience architecting, planning, and implementing data warehouses
    • Ability to interview business users to understand various data elements and its usage
    • Data Warehouse methodologies and theories: Dimensional Modeling
    • Ability to analyze source systems, model data, and create source-to-target mappings
    • Experience generating database objects (i.e. tables, indexes, constraints, views, materialized views) using a modeling tool such as Erwin
    • Development in SQL Server 2012 or later
    • Deep understanding of ETL processes (especially SSIS )
    • SSRS Report development, deployment, and administration/optimization
    • Power BI (or self-service BI tool) expertise
    • T-SQL Stored procedures development: Functions, Triggers, Linked servers, and indexing
    • Source Code Control (Team Foundation Server)
    • Ability to work under limited supervision, both independently and within a team environment.

  • Beneficial Skills -

    • C#/VB.net for use in SSIS packages
    • SSRS mobile (2016)
    • Knowledge of Logistics / Supply Chain
    • Experience with Human resources data
