Within EIT, the Enterprise Architecture (EA) group offers technology and services for a number of horizontal, enterprise-wide needs. This includes application development, platform and architecture services for internal enterprise functions (e.g, HR, Risk, Finance, Marketing) and for our internal IT for IT needs. This group also provides an array of end-user computing and help desk functions for all internal team members to enable our team member experience and productivity.

Position Overview

The Enterprise Architecture group plays a critical role in enabling our business partners through technology solutions. The organizational model of the EBT team is designed to more effectively manage our portfolio of applications, govern enterprise IT, manage risk, simplify our technology offerings, and execute on our business and IT partners priorities with enhanced time to market. The EBT Business Services group is a critical component of the EBT and EIT CIO operating model and is focused on providing business services to team members, support partners and Line of Business partners in conjunction with the EIT CIO Business Services organization. The leader for EBT Business Services will partner closely with technology and key support (e.g. HR, Finance, Communications) leadership to enable operational excellence and provide business office support for the EBT teams. Key areas of focus include: initiative and portfolio management, financial analytics, business relationship management, support for our Applications Portfolio Management efforts and communications.

Position Responsibilities and Expected Outcomes

The Enterprise Architecture Business Services Leader role includes leadership and critical participation in the following areas in support of EA:


EA Financial Analytics

Assist in development and maintenance of EBT level strategy plans in partnership with ECIO and EIT COO Strategy teams

Provide support, research and analytics for EBT operating reviews with the EIT CIO and our Line of Business partners

Ensure consistent, efficient and effective execution of business office support for EBT

EA program/project portfolio management

Execution of the Business Relationship Management (BRM) function for EBT, in compliance with EIT standards

Critical Participation:

Application Portfolio Management

Application Rationalization Program

Embedded IT within the Lines of Business

Coordinate across EBT teams to execute ECIO and EIT wide initiatives

Participate in the development of standard metrics and KPIs and drive optimization for the EBT organization against key metrics

Develop and maintain EBT level strategy plans in partnership with EIT COO Strategy team including support to the EBT Directs for their respective plans

Partner with the ECIO Business Services team and EIT Communications team for EBT wide communications, Town Halls, and other EBT organizational activities

Required Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience in one or more of the following functional areas: business process, quality assurance, strategic planning, or project management
  • 6+ years of management experience

Other Desired Qualifications
  • 8+ years of experience managing technology and/or business services in financial services technology at large scale.
  • 5+ years of senior level leadership experience managing a complex organization including senior managers, managers, individual contributors and vendor resources across multiple global locations.
  • Demonstrated prior experiences in effective engagement with operating & management committee executives, board members and external regulators.
  • Strong relevant prior experiences in effective management of technology financials and risk.
  • Ability to effectively drive and lead change in an organization with Wells Fargos size, scale and complexity.
  • Demonstrated experience in building, leading, developing and retaining a high performing team of leaders, strong technical experts and high performing professionals in a cultural environment that achieves results through team member engagement and satisfaction.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage a large portfolio of technology and/or business services and effectively partner/influence at the senior executive level.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of the financial, operational, technical and regulatory drivers impacting a complex and dynamic global technology environment.
  • Ability to develop technology strategy, operating model & roadmaps with clear objectives and aligned with business, enterprise and EIT strategies.
  • Proven experience as a highly effective leader with credibility from demonstrating strong business and technology acumen.
  • Highly effective decision-making/critical thinking/problem solving skills with a collaborative and results oriented leadership style.
  • Demonstrated experience motivating and influencing groups or individuals across organizational boundaries to gain trust and confidence to make timely decisions.
  • Proven experience in establishing a vision, developing the strategy to support the vision, gaining consensus across key functional leadership through effective communication, and driving action towards the vision through the effective management of goals and objectives.
  • Demonstrated vendor negotiation and partnership skills.
  • Excellent communication (oral and written) with ability to communicate at multiple levels ranging from technologists to senior managers and executive leadership.
