Business Analyst


Position Summary -


The Business Analyst will be a part of the IT department and work on assigned projects within in a fast-paced environment working with clients and development team in a typical agile/scrum frame-work with very tight turnaround timelines. The business analyst is an integral team member helping to gather information, evaluate, and report on business requirements and processes; e.g. team workflows and resource planning, quality management, process improvement, and other objectives of the department. The business analyst provides data analysis to support, compile, and report key information for operations and business objectives. The role can include light coding, data modeling design and reporting activities.


Essential Functions -



  • Conduct business process analysis to identify key business needs, issues and/or gaps
  • Develop and maintain a deep understanding of work products, integration tools and techniques to support existing and future functionality.
  • Develop strategies to improve efficiencies in workflow affecting people, process, and technology across Healthcare iLAB service lines.


    • Discovering, documenting and improving business processes at varying levels of detail, both graphically and with text

  • Assist with the implementation, testing, and acceptance of new use cases and (Plan-Do-Study-Act) PDSA cycles.
  • Document and log issues in appropriate detail to ensure timely communication and enable quick diagnosis and resolution of issues
  • Partner with team members and external partners or stakeholders to develop and document business deliverables for new/enhanced capabilities; including but not limited to: project charters, business vision documents, requirements documentation, risk mitigation, tracking documents, and status reports
  • Participate in finding and implementing technology solutions and development processes by providing requirements documentation, use cases, subject matter expertise, and design input


Additional Functions -



  • Help ensure buy-in of proposed solutions from stakeholders and leadership
  • Manage program/project risks and issues, adhere to project timelines and budget
  • Ensure timely and effective execution of all assignments
  • Assist in monitoring, researching and correcting documentation and workflow by interacting with other departments to assist in identifying and correcting documentation
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management
  • Develop and maintain a broad knowledge of health care IT industry practices and trends, especially in the areas of electronic data standards, quality reporting, and data integration. Provide day-to-day support to end-users of products, which may include:


    • Monitoring performance reports and audit logs to ensure high quality operations and proactively prevent interruption of services and data breaches
    • Troubleshooting and diagnosing interruptions of service



Prerequisite Qualifications -



  1. Education/Degree Required



  • Bachelor's Degree at College or University required



  1. Years of Experience Required



  • Requires minimum (1) one year of experience in business analysis or equivalent, at hiring manager's discretion



  1. Knowledge/Skills Required



    • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written
    • Must be proficient in use of PC and support software in a Windows based environment, including MS Office Products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, etc)
    • Expert level expertise in Microsoft Excel
    • Demonstrated exceptional requirements analysis, testing and debugging experience
    • Experience in writing user stories and detailed process flows
    • User Acceptance Testing coordination experience
    • Experience in working with agile/scrum methodology
    • Experience with project methodology (requirements, design, development, test and implementation)
    • Familiarity with business process design and aid the high-level business process design efforts with assistance of the stakeholders and end users.



Preferred Qualifications -



  • Excellent relationship management skills
  • Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Knowledge in MPI, PL/SQL and /or SAAS
  • Experience with Health Information Management or demonstrated knowledge of analysis methodology
