The Business Analyst (BA) Lead Consultant applies knowledge, analysis, and facilitative expertise to gather and define requirements, to achieve business objectives, and provide innovative solutions to business problems.

Job Summary

Support analysis and design efforts for complex projects and business processes; Establish common understanding of the business environment in which a project or solution must be defined, designed, created, deployed, used, and supported.

Key Responsibilities

Provide expertise for one or more areas of the business through analysis and understanding of business needs

Obtain and apply advanced knowledge of programs, policies, procedures in a business area or technical field

Use appropriate tools and techniques to elicit and define requirements for complex business processes or projects

Create, review, update, or otherwise contribute to functional designs, leveraging advanced and / or specialized technical knowledge - may help design application prototypes

Conduct research, measurement, analysis, and apply critical thinking to contribute to development of requirements

Take a lead role, plan, and consult related to information gathering efforts

At times, serve as project lead on work efforts or early stages of project definition; Assist with ideation, project initiation, or planning for projects of high complexity

Represent an area externally in benchmarking and best practice efforts, providing business expertise across projects

Support test strategy plan development and participate in testing or case review, as needed

Abilities / Experience / Knowledge / Skills

Ability to integrate and work well within a globally distributed, diverse, cross-functional team and business *

Ability to prioritize and manage multiple work efforts with limited direction / guidance

Experience with technology projects and familiarity with Agile team environments / methodology

College degree or equivalent experience (insurance industry / business knowledge)

3+ years working in insurance, project management, or technology preferred

- Intermediate to Advanced Skill / Knowledge in the following:

o Application of analysis techniques to form observations that support requirements / recommendations

o Business process discovery and diagramming / notation - Blueworks, Omnigraffle, or Visio

o Crafting appropriate business communications; facilitation of meetings / conversations with varying audiences

o Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, and OneNote

Analysis-related certification or similar discipline (e.g. Six Sigma, Business Process Management, etc.) is a "plus"

* Note: Regular, predictable attendance is an essential function of this job; occasional travel may be needed
