Duties:



  • Articulate and align fellow teams to data process designs.
  • Work closely with the product owner, business stakeholders and end users to understand their needs and refine requirements.
  • Demonstrate functionality in an open, collaborative manner; comfortable working with both technical team members and business partners.
  • Work with application architects to evaluate and define standards for front-end development - choose technologies and frameworks best suited for the job, patterns to use, anti-patterns to avoid.
  • Strong focus towards improving the end to end SDLC, including but not limited to unit, functional and performance testing practices, build pipeline, deployment, monitoring, etc.
  • Provide open and positive feedback on code reviews, mentoring and coaching junior developers where appropriate.
  • Create technical documentation around what gets built, detailing not only the "how" but the "why" of implementations.
  • Enjoy being challenged by and solving complex problems

Skills:


  • Big Data stack experience: Spark, Kafka, HBase, Hive, MongoDB
  • Proficiency in Scala is preferred, as Scala is used both in the Big Data stack and in stand alone modules (Web Services)
  • Candidates with proficiency in Java or Python, with some functional/Scala experience, with extensive Big Data stack experience will be considered
  • Experience architecting and deploying highly scalable distributed systems
  • Microservice experience is desirable
  • Some production experience with front-end frameworks - Angular 2+, React, Vue or similar.
  • Eye for design - able to rapidly lay out modern web applications and style them in HTML and CSS.
  • Strong understanding of responsive design and best practices, experience with Material, Bootstrap, NativeScript or similar.
  • Familiar with Javascript ES6, ES7 and the inner workings - inheritance, destructing, this, event loop, etc.
  • Comfortable supporting and testing across mobile and desktop browsers and providing the best possible experience on each.
  • Experience building and consuming RESTful interfaces and can describe the tenets of REST, compare REST to SOAP, and describe REST best practices.
  • Proficient with back-end frameworks used to support web applications, NodeJS and Typescript experience.
  • Familiar with software version control concepts, tools (primarily Git) and best practices; concepts such as rebasing, squashing, cherry picking, tagging, etc.
  • Cognizant of security concerns in a healthcare environment and strategies used to protect PII/ PHI - encryption, server side validation, code and system scanning, etc.

Education:

Bachelors degree in Computer Science or a related discipline, at least eight, typically ten or more years of solid, diverse work experience in IT with a minimum of four years experience application program development, or the equivalent in education and work experience.
