job summary:

- Design, build, and optimize highly scalable data pipelines to assemble large, complex data sets from various different sources

- Be a key contributor to machine learning projects, helping translate business needs into an analytic plan, executing on the plan, and working on delivery of results

- Contribute to the development of training tools about data engineering, providing content to training materials and delivering training sessions

- Contribute to the evaluation of new software techniques and technologies, providing user testing and preparation of results

- 5+ years of reporting experience, analytics experience, or a combination of both; or a BS/BA degree or higher in a quantitative field such as applied math, statistics, engineering, physics, accounting, finance, economics, econometrics, computer sciences, or business/social and behavioral sciences with a quantitative emphasis and 3+ years of reporting experience, analytics experience, or a combination of both

- 2+ years of SQL experience

- 2+ years of development experience with languages like Python, Java, Scala, or R

- 1+ years of experience with Big Data/Hadoop tools like Spark, Hive, Kafka, and Map Reduce


- Familiar with statistical and machine learning techniques. This includes exploratory analysis, model building, visualization, and validation.

- Strong ability to design, build, automate, and optimize big data pipelines to extract value from large disconnected data stores

- Ability to work closely with data scientists and business partners to support data needs

- Ability to translate and summarize complex data into understandable, actionable information and recommendations

- Understanding of data structures and algorithms

- Experience with machine learning libraries such as MLlib, scikit-learn, H2O

- Experience with version control systems, especially Git

- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
