Job Description

Since 1984, Share Our Strength® has led the fight against hunger and poverty by inspiring and organizing individuals and businesses to share their strengths. Today, through the No Kid Hungry and Cooking Matters campaigns, Share Our Strength is ending childhood hunger in America by ensuring all children get the healthy food they need. No child should go hungry in America – we’re on our way to making that a reality and we want you to join us. We’re bold, creative, always open to new ideas and 100% dedicated to our mission. If that sounds like you, we’d like you to consider becoming part of our team.

The Associate Director, Database Administration is a technical expert in Blackbaud products, and responsible for ensuring that the Raiser’s Edge NXT (RE NXT) and Luminate databases directly support the fundraising, advocacy, public relations, government relations, and programmatic initiatives of Share Our Strength. The Associate Director makes configuration changes to the databases, manages user access and security permissions, manages data integration from a variety of third-party platforms, ensures data hygiene, and performs quality assurance checks. The Associate Director also assists with staff training and provides staff with required queries, dashboards, and reports to support their activities. Finally, the Associate Director supervises and is supported by a Manager and Coordinator focused on the health and data integrity of Blackbaud tools.

The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in best practices in fundraising and operations, with a proven track record of developing and implementing strategies for fundraising success and driving organizational change. The Associate Director will have a service-oriented approach and thrive in a fluid, dynamic environment.

  • Serve as the product owner for both the RE NXT and Luminate products – including advising teams across the enterprise of new capabilities as they are released by the vendor, serving as the product evangelist for teams that are not yet using the tools, and advising Share Our Strength’s senior leadership on opportunities and challenges that will arise from the impending merger of the RE NXT and Luminate platforms.
  • Work with the Director, Fundraising Systems & Research to document and implement RE NXT and Luminate policies and procedures.
  • Manage access permissions to both RE NXT and Luminate.
  • Collaborate with the Director, Fundraising Systems & Research to plan, implement, and improve information flows between RE NXT, Luminate and other third-party platforms, including event fundraising systems, P2P fundraising systems, and Share Our Strength’s data lake.
  • Actively track, code, and enter fundraising data into NXT and Luminate in accordance with new fundraising initiatives; troubleshoot data integration issues.
  • Periodically assist with gift entry when volume dictates at peak times.
  • Maintain database integrity through regular internal audits and oversee and/or perform offline ad online data cleanup projects.
  • Coordinate the activities of outside consultants charged with conducting data audits and lead Share Our Strength’s remedial actions.
  • Stay abreast of data integrity best practices, methods, and technology tools.
  • Run scheduled daily, weekly, monthly reports to support fundraising initiatives; work with fundraising teams to identify and set up standard reports and dashboards for staff to run independently; support other ad hoc reporting requirements.
  • Special assignments upon request.
  • Supervise the eCRM Manager and Database Coordinator, ensuring that there is coherent management of the RE NXT and Luminate platforms. Teach and mentor Donor Operations staff to grow their capabilities within the fundraising Operations field.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 8 – 10 years’ experience with Raiser’s Edge/RE NXT.
  • 5 or more years of experience with online/offline database integration – specifically between Raiser’s Edge and Luminate.
  • Experience with ImportOMatic and the Omatic integration with Luminate required.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both verbal and written), including strong presentation skills and emotional intelligence.
  • Record of generating buy-in from, and exceeding expectations of, internal and external stakeholders.
  • Entrepreneurial leader with significant creative capacity and flexibility who can be highly successful with minimal supervision or leading a group.
  • Strong computing skills in Microsoft Office suite.
