The Department of Computer Science and Engineering at the University of California Merced invites applications for a qualified Assistant Teaching Professor to coordinate and teach undergraduate core courses in Computer Science and Engineering. The successful candidate will be actively involved in university-wide teaching-related projects and student development programs.

 

The job title is also known as Lecturer with Potential Security of Employment (LPSOE). This series parallels that of the research-focused series but with emphasis upon excellence in teaching and other instruction-related activities. Individuals in the position are expected to provide outstanding teaching, as well as to engage in professional activity (including research on pedagogy) and service related to the pedagogical mission of the department and university. This appointment confers membership in the Academic Senate, and, contingent upon promotion, tenure-paralleling security of employment.

 

Preferred candidates will: (1) have teaching experience or evidence of the ability to teach, particularly using student focused or student success centered approaches, (2) be enthusiastic about working with UC Merced's diverse student body, (3) have experience with open source tools and development environments both in Linux and Windows, and (4) show involvement in developing effective and innovative teaching media and infrastructure.

Qualifications: A doctoral degree (preferred by July 1, 2020, must be conferred by Dec. 31, 2020) in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering or a related field is required at time of employment.

 

Salary is commensurate with education, experience, and UC academic salary scales.
