Position Announcement – Assistant Professor in Management Information Systems (two positions)

The Rawls College of Business at Texas Tech University invites applications for two (2) assistant professor position in Management Information Systems beginning August 2018.  Priority will be given to applicants with strong potential for publishing in top journals in MIS and related fields. The position requires a Ph.D. in Management Information Systems or a related field. Salary is commensurate with experience.

The MIS group is located in the Information Systems & Quantitative Sciences area of the Rawls College of Business.  The MIS group has a long tradition of publishing in top-tier journals in MIS and allied fields. MIS scholars at the Rawls College include Miguel Aguirre-Urreta, Glenn Browne, Jim Burns, Fred Davis, John Durrett, Joy He, Don Jones, Zhangxi Lin, Jaeki Song, Eric Walden, Jim Wetherbe, and Surya Yadav.

The standard teaching load for faculty at the Rawls College is 2-2. Summer support is usually also available for the first three years. The successful applicant will be expected to teach courses in our undergraduate, MBA, M.S.-Data Science, and Ph.D. programs.  Candidates who have very strong records of scholarship and who have the proven capacity or clear potential to bring externally sponsored research to Texas Tech University are encouraged to apply. Service duties include program-building, commitment to extra-curricular activities, and seeking outside research funding. Service to the department, college, and university is expected.

The MIS area offers an undergraduate degree, a Masters degree in Data Science, and a Ph.D. degree. The college offers undergraduate, Masters of Science, MBA (STEM and Working Professional), and Ph.D. degrees.  In addition to ISQS, the Rawls College has areas of Finance, Management, Marketing, and Energy Commerce, as well as a School of Accountancy and a program in Health Organization Management. The Rawls College of Business is located in a new state-of-the-art building opened in 2012.

The ISQS area includes the Center for Advanced Analytics and Business Intelligence, which is devoted to research on Data Science topics. The Center hosts an annual Symposium on Big Data each spring (see
