Job Description

Enterprise Business Service Technology (EBST) development team is looking to hire an App Systems Engineer for the role of a senior database developer. The position will be part of the development team in the data services area of EBST. The team member will be responsible for Oracle database development and support for databases being used in the critical EBST applications like Cache Data Facility (CDF), Personal Finance Facility (PFF databases) including My Spending Report, My Retirement Plan, Financial Health Savings, FICO, Customer Journal/Book of Business, Retail Delivery Systems (RDS), Debit Card Business Services (DCBS) and Multi-Channel Leads Business services (MCLBS), Retail Web Services (RWS), Forms, Claims, Pin Violation Counter (PVC), Account Number Assignment and Business Online Banking / Commercial load accounts database (BOB/AFS) . Development responsibilities will include the following:
Understanding and working with relational data models
Translate application requirements to come up with logical and physical database design
Produce design and development documents as needed per the SDLC
Collaborate with business analysts, DBAs, project managers and testing teams to implement project deliverables
Writing queries and stored procedures/packages
Troubleshoot and improve query performance
Investigate and resolve problems in production/non-production environments
Partner with DBAs to ensure operational stability of databases
Collaborate with offshore team members
Provide guidance to less experienced staff



Required Qualifications

  • 7+ years of application development and implementation experience
  • 7+ years of Oracle experience
  • 6 + years of experience writing relational database queries for stored procedures, query optimization and performance tuning
  • 1+ year of data modeling experience

  • Good verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to work and influence successfully within a matrix environment and build effective business partnerships with all levels of team members
  • Experience operating effectively in a geographically dispersed organization
  • Experience supporting or directing offshore teams
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to solve complex technical problems
  • Agile experience
  • A BS/BA degree or higher



Other Desired Qualifications
  • Familiarity with physical database infrastructure Oracle RAC, replication patterns and solutions
  • Familiarity with DB access from Java - invoking SPs, using cursors, special datatypes etc.
  • Familiarity with Oracle Golden Gate


Job Expectations

  • Flexibility to address incidents as needed 24 hours a day
  • Position Hours: Monday - Friday (as early as 7 am and as late as 6 pm ).
  • Flexibility to work in a 24/7 environment, including weekends and holidays
