Job Description

The Enterprise Market Risk Technology (ERMT) department provides world class business solutions to support Corporate and LOB Market Risk teams. The ERMT group works with its business partners in identification, measurement, aggregation and reporting of Market Risk across the firm. The group works closely with the lines of business to ensure that risks are being appropriately managed within the defined risk appetite for the firm. Market risk activities include market risk, counterparty credit risk, issuer risk, country risk and liquidity risk. The Market Risk systems perform valuation, simulation, aggregation and reporting of risk metrics and models on all simple (bonds) and complex (structured products, derivatives) securities products. Team members will work with advanced mathematical models, theoretical pricing, statistical and stochastic models, VaR (Value at Risk), PFE (Potential Future Exposure), IMM (Internal Model Methodology), and stress. The Market Risk systems are comprised of intraday and overnight batch processes that handle staging for all trading position data and market data required for risk modeling as well as making this data available to the various risk valuation systems. Quantitative models and reporting support trading activities as well as regulatory and business reporting requirements.

  • The role is for a senior developer within EMRT focusing on developing solutions for the Wells Fargo Home Lending (WFHL) Market Risk Oversight (MRO) team.
  • This role is located in St.Louis; however WFHL, and some EMRT team members supporting WFHL, are based in Charlotte. Therefore excellent communication skills will be needed to work effectively across geographical locations.
  • The solutions for WFHL MRO will be highly dependent on data and therefore the role requires very strong relational database experience. Excellent skills in schema design, stored procedure and view creation, and ETL will be crucial.
  • The developer will be expected to work with business partners in order to understand their needs and requirements and to analyze and design the necessary solution. Often the solution will involve sourcing information from systems external to EMRT.

A number of the requirements will focus on reporting and therefore the developer will need to be able to communicate and visualize information effectively to our users.



Required Qualifications

  • 7+ years of application development and implementation experience
  • 5+ years of relational database experience
  • 5+ years of data modeling experience
  • 5+ years of performance tuning experience
  • 3+ years of Object Oriented Programming (OOP) experience
  • 3+ years of ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) Programming experience



Desired Qualifications

  • Good verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills



Other Desired Qualifications
  • 2+ year of development experience producing end user reports using a third party tool (e.g. MicroStrategy, SSRS, Crystal Reports, etc.)
  • A detailed, logical thinker, problem solver & team player
  • Excellent communication skills
  • 4 year degree with a technology-related emphasis
  • Understanding of basic financial concepts and instrument types (Market Risk or Mortgage knowledge a distinct advantage)
  • Object oriented analysis and design experience
  • Experience with dashboarding technologies
  • Familiarity with agile software development techniques including designing software for unit testing and acceptance testing, and the use of continuous integration
  • Experience with full lifecycle software development
