The Wholesale Bank Technologies (WBT/Whsl) Performance Engineering (PE) team is seeking a talented Performance Engineer to support multiple mission critical business services platforms vital to Wells Fargos day to day operations. These distributed systems process millions of transactions a day, and support some of the largest customer facing portals within the bank. You will have the opportunity to work with the day to day activities of an engineering staff located within the continental US as well as in our EGS offices (India) while providing in depth analysis of performance testing results as well as tuning recommendations to our systems application architect teams. You will partner closely with our Functional QA, Development, and Environment Support teams to plan, design, script, execute and analyze results of Load, Soak, Stress, and Capacity tests working to identify performance bottlenecks within a complex infrastructure and ensuring quality product releases to the production environment.

The platforms you will be supporting are built on various technologies including JAVA and .NET. You must be adept at analyzing performance testing results and be comfortable with working closely with Developers/Systems Architects and be proficient at providing recommendations regarding performance opportunities. Additionally, you would be responsible and accountable for project life cycle deliverables relating to performance testing, from planning to analysis to results presentation and monitoring of production performance. You will provide performance test exit criteria with respect to key performance indicators and defects found and ensure the credibility of test results relative to being production like as much as possible with emphasis on test data profiling and conditioning, scale factors, load rates, and virtual memory profiling.

You must be a self-starter and be able to work well both independently and in a team environment with confidence. You must have experience with moving performance test engineering into the design and development phases of the SDLC. Written and verbal communication skills are a must. To be successful you must also have experience with managing work in a fast-paced and a rapidly changing environment.

Preferred locations are Charlotte, NC and St Louis, MO.

Will consider candidates in other locations:Chandler, AZ; Minneapolis, MN; Winston Salem, NC.

Required Qualifications

  • 7+ years of application development and implementation experience
  • 7+ years of performance tuning experience
  • 7+ years of Performance Center or LoadRunner experience

Desired Qualifications

  • Good verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Knowledge and understanding of technology performance: testing tools such as: Performance Center or Load Runner

Other Desired Qualifications
  • Demonstrated experience with Java stack tuning and debugging including garbage collection, core dump analysis, contention/concurrency and other bottleneck measurements
  • Demonstrated experience working with Splunk and AppDynamic monitoring tools
  • Minimum of five years exclusively planning, designing, scripting, executing and analyzing performance tests.
  • Minimum of five years Experience performance testing in a multi-tiered environment.
  • Minimum of one year experience with LoadRunner version 12.x or higher.
  • Attention to detail and ability to follow-through on often complex tasks involving multiple team members
  • Ability to think logically; excellent problem solving, decision-making, and analytical skills
  • Highly organized and self-directed
  • Ability to shift focus and maintain patience in high-pressure situations
  • Strong verbal, written and interpersonal skills with ability to communicate effectively across organizational lines and with virtual team members
  • Experience working with a geographically dispersed team
  • 4 year degree with a technology related emphasis

Job Expectations

  • Flexibility to frequently be on call beyond normal working hours
  • Flexibility to work in a 24/7 environment, including weekends and holidays
  • Must be able to attend training and off-site office events outside office hours
  • Ability to travel up to 25% of the time
