Job Description

Wells Fargo Asset Management (WFAM) is seeking an Application Systems Engineer (ASE) to provide technical expertise, design, development, implementation and maintenance of software development tool solutions within the information technology area. WFAM skillfully guides institutions, financial advisors, and individuals through the investment terrain to help them reach their financial objectives.

This position is part of the WFAM-IT eBusiness team a team tasked with development, support and maintenance of all WFAM web sites and supporting applications. This is a key role on a high availability support team and requires strategic project focus, technical discipline leadership and looking ahead to anticipate needs and proactively serve our business partners through technology.

  • Establishes best practices for and implements continuous build and deploy solutions for WFAM development staff along with ongoing support, maintenance and process improvement of those solutions;
  • Establishes best practices for and implements continuous application monitoring solutions for WFAM applications along with ongoing support, maintenance and process improvement of those solutions;
  • Supports and mentors others in automated test scripts for all applications.
  • Completes full lifecycle application development including requirements (working with a BA), design, development, unit testing, implementation, testing support (working with QA), performance tuning, maintenance and support.
  • Analyze highly complex user needs and software requirements to determine feasibility of design within time and cost constraints
  • Develops new documentation, departmental technical procedures and user guides
  • Assures quality, security, and compliance requirements are met for supported areas
  • Provides escalated Tier 2-3 Support for production issues and requests related to business system functionality
  • Contribute to technical user groups and teams as requested
  • Develops original and innovative solutions to challenges and provides coding guidance to less experienced staff
  • Builds strong business and technical relationships to foster the identification of potential system enhancements
  • Be well-informed in general technology trends (mobile technologies, evolving web technologies and trends) and be able to make recommendations based on our business needs


Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of application development and implementation experience



Desired Qualifications

  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills



Other Desired Qualifications
  • 3+ years experience development experience using Java, and jQuery, web servers, middleware and database technologies;
  • 3+ years experience using source code control, continuous integration and automated testing tools such as Git, Nexus, Maven, Jenkins, uDeploy, HP UFT;
  • 3+ years experience using application monitoring and reporting tools such as App Dynamics and Splunk;
  • Experience reviewing others code and providing constructive feedback on best practices and standards.
  • 4 year degree in Information Systems (or comparable field) or equivalent experience
  • Working knowledge of the mutual fund industry
  • Experience with various CMS applications, including SDL Tridion
  • Experience using WebLogic and JBoss
  • Experience with Windows, Unix and Linux
  • Experience in database platforms (Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server)
  • Experience in the administrative aspects of configuring and supporting web server environments
  • Experience with third party scheduling tools - specifically AutoSys
  • Exceptional problem solving skills and ability to mentor others in the skill


Job Expectations

  • Ability to work on call as assigned
