Application Manager


-Responsible for the development and maintenance of assigned applications.

-Manage and provide leadership to the applications staff and ensure the successful completion of projects and department priorities on time, within budget and meeting quality and regulatory requirements.

-Establish and maintain positive relationships with business partners and other impacted teams.


-Technical direction and expert level consulting on cross-function strategic projects:

-Acts as a key contributor of technical strategy for applications:

-Identifies Opportunities

-Develops best practices

-Manages day to day allocation of resources

-Planning, Implementation & Support:

-Ensures departmental priorities are completed:

-Develops detailed plans and accurate estimates for all phases of a project

-Manages implementation and coordination

-Controls accuracy and effectiveness of applications, including Access Review Procedures

Relationships & Communication:

-Acts as primary liaison with multiple interfacing applications, IT Executives, and Project Managers:

-Establish and maintain positive relationships with business partners

-Effectively communicate and build rapport with team, stakeholders, and other cross functional groups

-Lead complex meetings for technical design, decision making, problem solving, implementation, and strategic planning

-Resolves conflicts and issues and escalates as appropriate

Development & Coaching:

-Provides direction, expertise, feedback, coaching, and development to build staff capability

-Continually enhance skills and build knowledge in all aspects of the organization, the business, and information systems

3rd Party Vendor:

-Planning and implementation:

-Evaluation of vendors and software


-Understand, store, maintain and ensure adherence to all support documentation

-Ensure application inventory tool (IIPM) is maintained and current

-Monitor, assess, and distribute scorecards reflecting performance against SLA across the various stakeholders

-System availability

-Service Quality

-Batch Cycle Completion

-Develop strategic roadmap to support business strategy and growth plans, and action plan(s) to address performance concerns

-Complete annual Access Reviews

Relationships & Communication:

-Acts as primary IT liaison and advocate, ensuring decisions/actions are in the best interest

-Establishes and maintains positive relationships, utilizing a variety of communication channels and techniques

-Participates in Internal Response Team (IRT) and Emergency Response Team (ERT)

-Resolves conflicts/issues and escalates as appropriate

Basic Qualifications

-Bachelor's Degree in related field or equivalent experience

-5 + years of managerial experience

-Professional experience on large projects/programs with multiple applications and interfaces

-Working knowledge of different design techniques (e.g. OO., Top-down, structured analysis, component-based design) and current market tools that support those techniques

-Applicability of different programming languages (e.g. Cobol, JCL, HTML, C#, .Net)

-Multiple platforms (e.g. MVS, Client/Server)

-Strong IT Standards, Methodologies. Experience with SOX & audit requirements

-Working knowledge of Middleware technologies

-Working knowledge of Database technologies (e.g. SQL Server, DB2)

-Experience working in an Agile - Scrum environment
