Application Development Lead

Position Summary -

Application Development Lead role applies business domain and technical software development knowledge in determining end-to-end design requirements for transformation healthcare and quality improvement projects. The Development Lead role is responsible to ensure delivery of high quality product releases that meets business requirements and enhances customer experience. The incumbent will drive project delivery using a variety of techniques ranging from managing project timeline, stakeholder engagement, business communication, assisting development design, quality assurance, and release management. The Application Development Lead facilitates analytical support services and provides technical expertise to business and downstream practices/clinicians to make meaningful & quality changes, improve patient outcomes, and reduce costs. He/she will be a liaison between healthcare transformation teams, product development, and quality assurance teams. The role will work closely with senior management to define strategies for healthcare solutions, data and measures management objectives.

Essential Functions -

  • Analyzes the business needs and assess feasibility for enhancements to existing or new applications
  • Elicits documentation for business and functional requirements with assertions
  • Drives timelines and effort to ensure on-time delivery for the project or enhancement
  • Conducts Joint Application Design (JAD) sessions, walkthroughs, and interviews with business stakeholders
  • Gathers and Analyzes requirements, and helps business create Narrative Use Cases, Diagrams (Process flow, Data Flow, Sequence Diagrams) , and other related analysis to help translate business needs into functional specifications.
  • Facilitates and tracks the transition of the Practice Transformation Network practices using established requirements and standard processes
  • Supports in developing user manual and product documentation
  • Ensures quality product deliverable with testable requirements and testing traceability. Identify issues, traceability gaps, and manage business expectations
  • Ensures operation by training client personnel and providing ongoing support or support transition
  • Manages application/software performance to achieve expected results

Additional Functions -

  • Collaborates and Liaises with subject matter experts , Development team, Client, and Quality Assurance teams for product acceptance
  • Assist in writing Quality Assurance (QA) scripts, QA timelines, and performing QA validation.
  • Support teams to complete the User Acceptance Testing (UAT), and regression testing for every enhancement release
  • Manages requirements, specifications, business processes and recommendations related to proposed solution
  • Keeps superiors informed of progress, issues and potential problems
  • Keeps abreast of upcoming IT trends to advance and help drive out of box thinking to meet goals

Prerequisite Qualifications -

  1. Education/Degree Required

  • Master's degree in Engineering / Computer Science / Information Systems Management, required (relevant healthcare or IT experience substitutes for the above education requirement)

    1. Years of Experience Required

  • Minimum 3 years' experience working in Health Care Information Management

    1. Knowledge/Skills Required

  • Experience in MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
  • Strong Knowledge of Meaningful use/ PQRS
  • Strong Knowledge of HL7 and IHE interfaces
  • Strong Knowledge of HIE and MPI
  • Experience working with Agile and Waterfall projects and PostGres /SQL databases
  • Knowledge of software development lifecycle and SDLC methodologies
  • Understands business needs and translate them into application and operational requirements
  • Is experienced in areas of requirement walkthrough, facilitate discussion & presentation, analytical skills, and data presentation

  • Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills
  • Strong and proven problem solving skills
  • Familiarity with business process design and aid the high-level business process design efforts with assistance of the stakeholders and end users.
  • Strong data analytical skills
  • Ability to multi-task with good organizational and time management capabilities
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
